Hot Springs is the most popular tourist destination in the state of Arkansas with nearly 7 million annual visitors. It is located just southwest of the state capital of Arkansas with a population of more than 38,000 residents. As a part of the Natural State, the city of Hot Springs is nestled alongside Hot Springs National Park, also known as the first U.S. National Reservation, as well as the Ouachita National Forest and two state parks. It is surrounded by three man-made lakes, one of which is the largest lake in the state and also consistently ranked one of the cleanest lakes in the nation. In addition to the state/federal attractions, the City of Hot Springs boasts of having 22 parks within and surrounding the city limits, along with the Hot Springs Creek Greenway Trail. Between all these entities, Hot Springs has more than 100 miles of hiking/walking trails. In an effort to bring awareness to pollinators, the City of Hot Springs partners with community groups such as the Master Gardeners and Arkansas Master Naturalists, Diamond Lakes Division (DLAMN) to host a variety of presentations and educational events at pollinator areas on city-owned parks and trails. This includes the popular Monarch Butterfly releases held at the Monarch Butterfly Garden on the Hot Springs Creek Greenway Trail, which was created with the help of DLAMN. By signing the Mayor’s Monarch Pledge, Hot Springs Mayor Pat McCabe has committed to continue to save the monarch butterfly and other pollinators and looks forward to engaging residents in pollinator education and building more pollinator habitats throughout the city.

Bemidji is the First City on the Mississippi and home to Lake Bemidji, and 22 parks, native landscapes and community gardens. The Borough of Bridgeville is a small town nestled in southwest Pennsylvania with approximately 5,300 residents. Close to Pittsburgh, it is a wonderful town for young professionals, growing families and empty nesters. The walkable 1.1 square mile community holds three public parks, an active Main Street, an emerging arts scene and pockets of open areas ideal for monarch and pollinator gardens. Mayor Copeland has committed to saving the monarch butterfly and other pollinators with the signing of the Mayors’ Monarch Pledge and she knows that others in the community will commit to the building of pollinator habitat within our vibrant, little community.

The Village of Schaumburg is located about 20 miles northwest of the City of Chicago having a population of about 75,000 people. Schaumburg is in the largest center of economic development in the State of Illinois, outside the City of Chicago. The Village has committed to the preservation of the monarch butterfly by incorporating meaningful opportunities to support the monarch in the Comprehensive Plan, Comprehensive Green Action Plan, local codes, policies, and procedures. The Village enjoys a partnership with the Schaumburg Park District, Schaumburg Township District Library, and many residents who support these initiatives.

The Township of Hamilton is located in South Jersey with a population of approximately 26,000 residents within a 115 square mile area. Mays Landing, the county seat of Atlantic County, is one of 56 municipalities that are located in the New Jersey Pinelands National Reserve. This natural area covers over one million acres of protected pinelands and is the nation's first National Reserve. Mayor Pitale is a lifelong resident of Mays Landing which intensifies his dedication and efforts to further accomplish sustainability and beautification in our community. The township green team, Hamilton SustainabiliTEAM, completed our first native plant, rain garden in 2022. It is our intention along with Mayor Pitale's Monarch Pledge that we continue these butterfly gardens and rain gardens for healthy and productive pollinator habitats throughout our Township of Hamilton community.

Kennedale is a growing city with a population of 8500, located on the south edge of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. Our city works in collaboration with the Keep Kennedale Beautiful Commission to manage and maintain the city’s pollinator garden and Monarch Waystation located in the heart of Kennedale at TownCenter Park. Surrounded by the Library, City Hall, and Senior Center, TownCenter Park is where many of our community events are held, giving our citizens and visitors access to our garden. Mayor Joplin and the City of Kennedale are striving to create a more pollinator friendly community by engaging residents and promoting the importance of milkweed, native plants and pollinators. Keep Kennedale Beautiful is comprised of appointed members of the board as well as volunteers from around the community who have a love for our city and a passion to preserve the beauty that is around us.
