The Town is in the piedmont region of NC and a critical waypoint for the eastern Monarch migration. The City of Moorhead is a small city of 44,668 people in the Lake Agassiz basin. The land is prone to flooding, and some land along the Red River has been restored to native prairie or enhanced through the Urban Woods and Prairies Initiative through Audubon Great Plains. We are also working with Wildlife Forever and United Prairie Foundation on prairie plantings in two parks totaling 14 acres. We added 3 smaller pocket prairies (~300 square feet each) in 3 parks. Many residents in the community are interested in pollinator conservation.

Rogers, established 1881, is located in beautiful Northwest Arkansas. The City of Rogers is approximately 39 square miles with 71,000 residents. The City of Rogers has 400 acres of park land, containing 24 parks, a skate and splash park, 26 athletic fields, and over 70 miles of Greenways and Trails. The City of Rogers is committed to saving the monarch butterfly and other pollinators with the signing of the Mayor's Monarch Pledge. The City of Rogers has partnerships with NWA Master Naturalists and the Garden Club of Rogers to help build and maintain pollinator habitat throughout the city.

Onalaska is a city in Wisconsin, located on the western boarder. We are nestled between the scenic bluffs of the driftless region and beautiful Lake Onalaska. Our city has approximately 19,000 people. We look forward to engaging residents in building more pollinator habitat throughout our city.

Located midway between Austin and San Antonio, San Marcos is a quickly growing community that is situated along a major migration route for many species including monarch butterflies. Our city has a direct impact on monarch populations as they move across this region each year. Mayor Hughson of San Marcos, TX has committed to saving the monarch butterfly and other pollinators with their signing of the Mayors' Monarch Pledge and looks forward to contributing to the enhancement and conservation of pollinator habitat throughout the city.

By creating habitat gardens, yearly milkweed giveaways, and promoting ecologically conscious gardening practices, Greenbelt will continue to support the monarch and pollinators of all persuasions. Through our pledge, the City of Carbondale, Illinois commits to 1. Taking meaningful actions to protect the pollinators of Southern Illinois 2. Raising awareness about the decline of pollinators 3. Conducting review and revision of city code to encourage pollinator-supportive landscape on public and private land within City of Carbondale city limits 4. Evaluating and correcting operations and landscape maintenance practices that could have unintended and detrimental effects on pollinator species 5. Creating a community-driven “pollinator yards” pilot program to educate and support community members interested in learning how to plant pollinator-supportive landscape in their own yards.
