Pasadena is located in the San Gabriel Valley, at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains and is home to several community gardens and many parks including the Arroyo Seco Natural Park which is the city's largest natural open space with 22 miles of trails. The Arroyo Seco was recently included in the National Register of Historic Places, placing it among the nation’s top cultural resources. Mayor Gordo has committed to saving the monarch butterfly and other pollinators with their signing of the Monarch Pledge and looks forward to engaging residents in building more pollinator habitat throughout the city.

Our City has gained national recognition as a family-friendly town and wide acclaim for its architecture, living up to its nickname Pride of the Fox. Conveniently located 35 miles west of Chicago, in Kane and northwestern DuPage counties, St. Charles is home to 33,000 residents and a balanced mix of nearly 2,000 businesses that employ more than 18,000 people. In signing this monarch pledge, Mayor Vitek hopes to engage St. Charles residents in learning more about encouraging pollinator habitats.

The Town of Carrboro is a progressive, vibrant community located in the Piedmont region of central North Carolina. Over 20,000 diverse residents call Carrboro home. In 2014, the Town stated its intention to promote healthy, sustainable habitats for pollinators by becoming the third municipality in the country to join the Bee City USA initiative. The Town recognizes the importance of avoiding and minimizing impacts of municipal operations on pollinators and other species, has been working to support and protect environmental features for over 40 years, and has been pursuing a Least Toxic Integrated Pest Management Policy since the 1990s. The Town has also committed to protecting and enhancing native ecosystems through its 2017 Community Climate Action Plan. Carrboro Mayor Damon Seils has signed the Mayors’ Monarch Pledge to further the Town’s commitment to the environment and engage residents in creating and enhancing pollinator habitat throughout the community.

Despite its reputation as a sprawling metropolis, the City of Los Angeles is located within one of 36 globally recognized biodiversity hotspots. Los Angeles is a biodiversity jewel, teeming with rare and iconic species, including the monarch butterfly. By signing the Mayor’s Monarch Pledge, Mayor Bass has committed to creating habitat for the monarch butterfly and other pollinator species throughout the City. The City of Los Angeles is excited to advance the initiatives outlined in this pledge by planting native milkweed and other pollinator-friendly nectar plants in medians, to train landscape staff to use pollinator-friendly practices, and to initiate community science efforts that help monitor monarch health.
