Fort Worth is a city in North Central Texas. The city is located along a major monarch migration route and is situated where the Texas Cross Timbers meet the Great Plains, giving rise to its motto “Where the West Begins.” It is home to over 250 parks and the Trinity River Basin, offering prime monarch habitat. Mayor Price of Fort Worth has committed to saving the monarch butterfly and other pollinators by signing the Mayors’ Monarch Pledge and looks forward to continuing an ongoing program of new monarch habitats and community education on monarch conservation.

West Bloomfield Township is a bedroom community in Oakland County, Michigan, consisting of approximately 66,000 residents. There are 28 lakes in the Township, more than any other community in this county, in addition to many protected woodlands and wetlands. The Township has many ordinances in place to protect the environmental features of the area, and we value the natural beauty of the community. Many families enjoy walking, jogging, or biking on our bike pathway system, and our parks are top notch.

Holiday Hills is a small community with a population just over 600 residents. It is nestled in-between the Fox River and Griswold Lake with Moraine Hills State Park bordering part of our village. We don't have a lot of public land but we do have a lot of potential to support Monarchs and pollinators in our residents' garden and looking forward to participating in this program.

The Town of Garner is located in central North Carolina, just south of the state capital of Raleigh. The Town is invested in taking action to preserve the Monarch butterfly and other pollinator species. This is Garner's second year participating in the Mayors' Monarch Pledge.

With a deep appreciation for diversity, education, arts, parks, recreation, and community, Lawrence prides itself on being independent of its counterparts in the region. Lawrence, with a population of more than 100,000, is home to Haskell Indian Nations University and the University of Kansas. Lawrence boasts many amenities of larger cities while maintaining the Midwestern small-town charm that its residents value. Lawrence was founded on the banks of the Kansas River in 1854. Located between the Kansas City metropolitan area and the State's capital of Topeka, Lawrence is the county seat of Douglas County. In some of the community parks, we have plants for pollinators through the use of butterfly gardens. We also host programs to educate the public about what they can do to assist the continued support of pollinators.

The Town of Penfield is located in New York State with a population of just under 40,000. On the outskirts of the City of Rochester Penfield has 10 town owned parks including approximately 390 acres of land. Penfield strives to be a good steward of the environment and has a sustainability committee that focuses on energy and environmental conservation. Deputy Supervisor Drawe and the Penfield Town Board are dedicated to taking initiatives to protect native pollinators, specifically the monarch butterfly, and look forward to continuing to engage with residents through education and protection of pollinator habitat.

The City of Atlantic Beach is a small coastal community consisting of approximately three square miles of land area and a population less than 14,000. The City is located between two miles of Atlantic Ocean beachfront on the east and the expansive marsh and estuarine environment of the San Pablo Creek / Intracoastal Waterway on the west. The City is a near fully-developed municipality which cares greatly for the environment. The City possesses a unique character and “personality” where a high quality of life, diverse recreational activities, preservation of community character and protection of natural resources are day-to-day priorities to residents and elected officials as well. The mayors monarch pledge is another step in our commitment to the environment and the protection of the Monarch's.

The City of Missouri City is a suburb of 75,000 residents in the Greater Houston Metro Area. Through our robust Parks and Recreation programs and community partnerships, we have achieved certification as a Platinum Scenic City in the state of Texas. Mayor Robin Elackatt’s signing of the Mayors Monarch Pledge makes official the city’s existing commitment to saving the monarch butterfly and other pollinators. We also are stepping up our efforts by partnering with the WIDE School here in Missouri City, which has established a Monarch Butterfly Waystation. Together, we will continue to educate and encourage residents to plant more milkweed and other plants native to this region of Texas, as well as building more pollinator habitats throughout our City.

The Town of Moraga is a semi-rural community nestled in the beautiful hillsides of the East Bay of Contra Costa County, California. Moraga's population is 17,692. In November 2020, the Moraga Garden Club launched the “Moraga for Monarchs” initiative which resulted in the installation of a 2,600 square foot Monarch Habitat and Demonstration Garden at Rancho Laguna Park. The garden includes native and fire-safe plants that flower between early spring and late fall each year and interpretive signage to educate the community. The project included significant fundraising efforts and countless volunteer hours. The Moraga for Monarchs initiative spanned over 15 months during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Community contributions included over 2,870 volunteer hours and donations exceeding $92,000. Community donations include in-kind donations from 27 businesses and monetary donations from 98 individual donors, 3 service clubs, 3 social clubs, 4 garden clubs, and 1 Moraga Foundation. The garden includes over 600 plants including 95 native and drought tolerant varieties to increase the habitat for monarch and pollinators.

The Village of Lincolnshire prides itself in its environmental stewardship and its ongoing commitment to monarch butterfly and pollinator habitat education and conservation.
