Situated in west Macomb County, 20 miles north of Detroit and 8 miles west of Anchor Bay, the Charter Township of Shelby is home to nearly 80,000 residents. Among our greatest assets are our 1,200 acres of township parks, home to more than 100 species of native birds and animals, including nesting American bald eagles, and more than 80 species of trees, shrubs and wildflowers. Township Supervisor Rick Stathakis has committed to making a home for the monarch butterfly and other pollinators within our township’s borders with the signing of the Mayors' Monarch Pledge, and looks forward to engaging residents in building more pollinator habitats throughout our community.

The Village of Elmwood Park is a community of 24,000 residents which neighbors the City of Chicago. We are a smaller village but a tight knit community made up of longtime residents and many families. We are very connected to our residents through social activities, social media and general interaction. We will provide our public works department, specifically our Horticulturist on staff and garden walk members with any information that can help save the Monarch butterfly species.

The City of Rockwall is located in North Central Texas and has a population of 45,010. The City of Rockwall committed to this pledge in 2015 and has never looked back. The Parks and Recreation Department partners with the Butterfly Brigade and Butterfly Battalion volunteer groups to maintain eight Monarch Waystations located in our park system throughout the City of Rockwall. Four of these Waystations have been installed in the last twelve months and we will continue to growth the program in the future.

Toronto is committed to protecting the more than 360 species of bees and more than 100 species of butterflies and other pollinators that call Toronto home.

Granbury Texas is a city in north Texas, located 35 miles southwest of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, with a population of 10,000 people. Granbury is located squarely on the monarch butterfly migration route. Mayor Hulett is keenly interested in rolling out the Welcome mat for migrating monarchs through educational programs and an established demonstration garden maintained by Master Gardeners. Mayor Hulett of Granbury, Texas has committed to saving the monarch butterfly and other pollinators with his signing of the Mayors' Monarch Pledge and he looks forward to engaging residents to create more pollinator habitats throughout the City.

River Hills is one of the smallest communities in Wisconsin with approximately 1600 residents and covering an area of 5.5 square miles. We are home to internationally recognized Lynden Sculpture Gardens, a private tennis club and golf club, and three houses of worship. Our homes are on large lots, many bordering the scenic Milwaukee River. We are an environmentally aware community, committed to protecting the monarch butterfly and pollinator conservation.
