Mayor Jarratt is keenly interested in energizing the community to roll out the 'Welcome Mat' for migrating Monarch Butterflies through educational programs, an established demonstration garden maintained by Lake Granbury Master Gardeners, and a year-'round effort to plant milkweed, culminating in an annual celebration during the migration - Romancing the Monarch Butterfly Festival the first Saturday in October.

The Town of Mamaroneck has a population of roughly 29,000 and includes the entire Village of Larchmont, the part of the Village of Mamaroneck west of the Mamaroneck River and the Unincorporated Area, which is not part of either Village. We are only about 40 minutes from Manhattan, yet are part of the beautiful Lower Hudson Valley and maintain several conservation areas and parks throughout the Town. We also boast proximity to the Long Island Sound and easy access to highways, airports and commuter train service. Town Supervisor Jaine Elkind Eney, along with the Town's environmental committee (the Sustainability Collaborative), has committed to saving the monarch butterfly and other pollinators by signing the Mayors' Monarch Pledge. We look forward to engaging residents in building more pollinator habitat throughout the Town.

The City of Loretto is a small city, population 647, on the western edge of Hennepin County, Minnesota. Our Mayor and City Council Members have once again unanimously supported renewing the Mayors' Monarch Pledge. 2024 will be Loretto’s sixth year participating in the Pledge. The city is committed to improving the Monarch habitat through community education, planting and maintaining milkweed and pollinator gardens at city parks and supporting a milkweed seed giveaway.
