Dobbs Ferry is a village that lies just about 20 miles north of New York City. This riverfront village has a population of 11,000 within its 2.5 square miles of land. With its sloping geography, there is a traditional downtown, as well as generous open spaces. The Village is home to the 76 acre Juhring Nature Preserve, the beautiful Waterfront Park along the Hudson River, as well as two other parks with playgrounds- all of which are enjoyed by many. Mayor Rossillo of Dobbs Ferry NY is excited to transition our Village to a pollinator pathway and is committed to facilitating community actions that support Monarch conservation. With the signing of the Mayors' Monarch Pledge he looks forward to engaging our community in creating vital habitats to sustain pollinators especially Monarchs.

The City is in a prime location for four season recreation activities, mountains for skiing, snowboarding, hiking and mountain biking. A hockey town with a professional team and family skating on the pond Crandall Park. Glens Falls is considered the “Gateway to the Adirondack Park, Lake George to the Canada boarder. The community is rich in history, art and science.

We have a documented roosting site in town that we are monitoring, are working with community groups to increase pollinator plants and habitat around town in support of this iconic species. The Village of Hastings-on-Hudson is located in New York State, about 20 miles north of midtown Manhattan, and has a population of about 8,500. It is situated on the banks of the Hudson River and boasts exceptional views of the dramatic geological bluffs known as the Palisades. It has a charming, bucolic character, over 89% of its open space is dedicated parkland and it has a significant trail network. It also has active pollinator pathway and “Adopt-a-Spot” programs that engage and educate residents about the importance of biodiversity, native plants and pollinators. The Mayor of Hastings-on-Hudson, Nicola Armacost, has committed to protecting the monarch butterfly and other pollinators by signing the Mayors’ Monarch Pledge and encourages residents to continue building pollinator habitat throughout the municipality.
