This year, the City of Santa Fe's Parks and Open Space's River and Watershed Section partnered with local non-profit, RiverSource, and dedicated advocates to revitalize a previously disturbed area along the Santa Fe River Trail. Following the completion of river repair work, their collaborative efforts focused on restoring the former staging area into vital monarch habitat. This was achieved through regrading for passive water harvesting, the installation of rock dams on contour, and the planting of milkweed starts and seeds. To ensure the success of this restoration, a community-led watering campaign was developed, fostering collaboration between the city and its residents. A video and public outreach campaign accompanied the planting efforts, raising awareness and encouraging participation.

The Borough of Glen Ridge is located in Northern New Jersey with a population of approximately 7,500. Numerous organizations, schools, and individuals in Glen Ridge have launched projects to support monarchs and pollinators, including planting pollinator gardens at Clay and Benson Street parks, Freeman Garden, and our schools, selling Penstemon digitalis at our 2025 Arts and EcoFair, and registering properties to be part of Glen Ridge's "Pollinator Pathway" program.

The City of Lambertville, situated along the scenic Delaware River and the D&R Canal, is one of "America's Prettiest Towns" according to Forbes. The City attracts tourists for its beauty, architecture, shops, restaurants, and annual Shad Festival. While its 1.1 square mile area is essentially built-out, Lambertville is home to native fauna such as Bald Eagles, Cooper's Hawks, foxes, beavers, and butterflies, plus native flora such as jewelweed, wild blackberry, milkweed, and buttonbush, which support many other animals. The volunteer group Lambertville Goes Wild, with the endorsement of the Environmental Commission and the City Council, is promoting habitat creation and enhancement throughout the fabric of the City. Lambertville achieved certification as a Community Wildlife Habitat in 2019, and has renewed certification each year since then. Mayor Nowick is committed to continuing these efforts, with a special emphasis on Monarchs, other butterflies and pollinators, and birds.
