The Town of Indian Shores is a small coastal town on the west coast of Florida. Indian Shores boasts of having several parks, a community garden, 2.5 miles of white-sandy beaches, breathtaking evening sunsets, and lots of seasonal residents – not only the humankind, but also threatened species such as loggerhead turtles and gliding black skimmers. Mayor Patrick Soranno of the Town of Indian Shores is committed to saving the monarch butterfly and other pollinators with the signing of the Mayors’ Monarch Pledge. He and the Town Council and staff look forward to engaging residents in building more pollinator habitat throughout the town.

The City of Tamarac would like to be Monarch Champions and join the movement to restore and enhance habitat for monarchs and other wildlife right where people live, work, learn, play and worship. We commit to Issue a Proclamation to raise awareness about the decline of the monarch butterfly and the species’ need for habitat. Plant or maintain a monarch and pollinator-friendly demonstration garden at City Hall or another prominent community location. We already have one at The Commons park and will add more plants and some kind of plaque designating it so. Earn or maintain recognition for being a wildlife-friendly city by participating in other wildlife and habitat conservation efforts (i.e., National Wildlife Federation’s Community Wildlife Habitat program). The Parks Department is already participating in this program for our parks.

Seymour, Indiana is located in South Central Indiana, halfway between Indianapolis and Louisville, Kentucky. The city is home to about 20,000 people and gorgeous parks and recreation areas. The area is rural and residents take advantage of the outdoors in a variety of ways. The City of Seymour Parks and Recreation Department is fostering conservation projects in all city parks and the Department of Public Works has been a beacon for recycling and conservation efforts for many years.

The Village of Glenview, Illinois is a northern suburb of Chicago, with a population of approximately 47,000. The residents and staff have demonstrated their commitment to monarch butterfly habitat through attending monitoring training with the Field Museum staff, creating numerous backyard and schoolyard butterfly gardens, supporting public demonstration monarch gardens, and creating a monarch plan. We look forward to continuing our efforts.

The City of Fort Collins sits nestled against the foothills of the Rocky Mountains alongside the banks of the Cache La Poudre River, and is known to host a diversity of butterflies and pollinators. The many Natural Areas and Parks in Fort Collins provide habitat for Monarch butterflies and other pollinators. In addition, the Nature in the City program encourages habitat linkages throughout the city on non-city lands. With these programs in place, Mayor Wade Troxell commits to saving the monarch butterfly and other pollinators by signing of the Mayor’s Monarch Pledge and looks forward to engaging the community in building more pollinator habitat throughout Fort Collins.

Nacogdoches is a city in the Piney Woods of East Texas. Known as the "Oldest Town in Texas," Nacogdoches is home to Stephen F. Austin State University, plentiful gardens and natural areas, and five National Register Historic Districts. Citizens here take pride in being designated the Garden Capital of Texas and visitors come from around the country to enjoy the azalea blooms each year. A partnership with National Wildlife Federation is a perfect match and this pledge will help uphold and further goals already in motion to expand native plant areas and educate residents. Staff are well aware of the important role Texas plays in the monarch migration route and will do what they can to promote monarch and pollinator habitat.
