Alhambra, CA is a city of 83,000 residents located just northeast of Downtown Los Angeles. We are a developed community with little open space, but we are interested in creating more biodiversity on both public and private properties. We anticipate improvements and renovations in our city parks that will emphasize plant diversity and California native plants, including native California milkweed species. Mayor Maloney is a member of the Theodore Payne Foundation for Wild Flowers & Native Plants and the California Native Plant Society and is an avid supporter of expanding the use and inclusion of California native plants and milkweed. In his free time, he enjoys tending to his own California native and pollinator garden at his own home and is currently growing several types of native Asclepias species from seed.

The Village of Babylon located in Suffolk County on Long Island and in New York is a community that cares about all wildlife. Surrounded by The Great South Bay, Historic Argyle Lake, Southard's Pond and Hawley's Lake, the Village of Babylon is protective of our wildlife and that includes the monarch butterfly. We are happy to take on this pledge to preserve the monarch butterfly and to bring awareness to our Villages residents, families, children and guests!

The Town of Vienna, with a population of 16,000 and just 15 miles from the Nation's Capital, continues as an oasis of natural beauty in a rapidly urbanizing corner of the state. Central to the Town's landscape are 10 Town Parks that make up 15 percent of the Town's land area. Vienna is also home to national and regional treasures including Wolf Trap National Park, Meadowlark Botanical Gardens, and several miles of the Washington and Old Dominion Trail that offer acres of gardens attracting a wide variety of pollinator species. The Town is committed to maintaining and expanding its pollinator habitat as well as promoting action among its citizenry consistent with Monarch Pledge goals.

The City of Sandy Springs is the second largest city in metro Atlanta with a vibrant a population of almost 110,000. Enjoying twenty-two miles of shoreline along the Chattahoochee River, two local forest preserves and hundreds of acres of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, environmental stewardship is a natural priority for the City of Sandy Springs. We became a Bee City USA Affiliate in 2021, and by signing the Mayor’s Monarch Pledge, we strengthen our commitment to improving pollinator habitat in our parks and engaging the community in efforts to saving the monarch butterfly and wildlife in general.

The City of Palm Springs pledges to helping Monarch butterflies and other pollinators through City initiatives. Since Monarch caterpillars will only feed on milkweed, the City of Palm Springs Maintenance Department has planted milkweed plants at city parks, City Hall, the Community Garden and in medians throughout the City.

Somerville, Massachusetts is the most densely populated city in the the Northeast, with 80,000 residents living in four square miles. Mayor Ballantyne of Somerville has committed to helping to save the monarch butterfly and other pollinators with her signing of the Mayor's Monarch Pledge and looks forward to continuing to create more pollinator habitat throughout the city.

The Village of Ridgefield Park, settled in 1685, is a residential urban-suburban community located in southeast Bergen County, New Jersey, and proudly boasts one of the longest continuous Fourth of July parades in the USA. It was first established in 1894. Like this grand country, Ridgefield Park is a rich source of good old American history. Our Public Library is a great place to learn more about us. Of 565 municipalities statewide, Ridgefield Park is one of only four with a village type of government in New Jersey operating a Walsh Act (city commission) form of government. Mayor John Anlian of Ridgefield Park, NJ is committed to saving the monarch butterfly by signing the Mayors' Monarch Pledge and he looks forward to engaging residents into building more monarch friendly gardens throughout the town.

Selma, NC was officially chartered as a Town on February 11, 1873, but the Town’s true birth took place on May 1, 1867. Selma was born as and still is a “Railroad Town,” and our rail heritage is still evident today, with our recently renovated 1924 Union Depot (Selma Union Depot) supporting Amtrak service. The Town of Selma is located at the corner of I-95 and future I-42 (Current US Highway 70) with a growing population of about 7,000. We are working to improve our horticulture operations in the Town of Selma and do our part to improve the environment. We feel taking this Pledge is a great step towards that goal.

Edgerton is an established community (population 5,945) with a rich history and strong community spirit. Located in the fast growing I-90 corridor amid the rolling countryside of South-Central Wisconsin Edgerton is home to 14 parks/recreational areas, 1 golf course and tons of gardens (including a community garden) where pollinators are all welcomed. Mayor Christopher Lund of Edgerton, Wisconsin has committed to save the monarch butterfly and other pollinators with his signing of the Mayors’ Monarch Pledge on March 9, 2022! Chris looks forward to engaging residents in building more pollinator habitat throughout the city and will work to provide education opportunities so Edgerton residents can learn more about our monarch friends and how they too can help!
