Hatboro is a Borough 14 miles north of Philadelphia. Our population is 7500+ and growing. We have four parks in our 1.5 square miles. Our goal is to achieve Wildlife Certification of 100+ residences, businesses and public areas. Mayors for Monarchs is part of a wide range of initiatives that will bring our town in alignment with it's 2040 Plan of Action. Pollinator gardens, rain gardens, storm water mitigation efforts are all part of our Sustainability Plan.

The Village of Shorewood is located in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. Approximately a mile square, the Village is bordered by Lake Michigan and the Milwaukee River. It's population of more than 13,000 people is known for it's diversity and commitment to education and environment.The Village of Shorewood is committed to the creation and preservation of natural wildlife habitats . As part of those efforts, the Shorewood Monarch Project, an inter-generational community initiative, was created to increase awareness about the importance of butterflies, bees, and other pollinating insects and to encourage residents to conserve and create healthy habitats for pollinators in their own yards. The village maintains two certified Monarch Waystations including a colossal waystation along the Lake Michigan migratory pathway. Shorewood has participated in the Mayor's Monarch Pledge since 2016 at a leadership level. We are also a member of the Wisconsin Monarch Collaborative. Our local efforts include maintaining a number of native public gardens and green spaces throughout the Village, annual distribution of milkweed plants, encouraging residents to create butterfly gardens by offering workshops, garden photo-contests, and social media posts. We also work with schools on education efforts related to butterfly conservation. Our local public library hosts an annual live caterpillar to butterfly exhibit to educate the public about the monarch life cycle and generate interest in the plight of monarch butterflies.

Port Chester is a Village in the Town of Rye in Westchester County, New York. The Village is a vibrant and diverse community of approximately 30,000 people situated 25 miles north of New York City. Mayor Marino is pleased to sign the Mayors’ Monarch Pledge and looks forward to engaging with residents in the creation of monarch butterfly habitat in the Village. The Mayor is aware of the importance of saving monarchs and other pollinators, and believes that encouraging the expansion of native plantings will not only benefit monarchs but all native species, as well as providing natural and beautiful spaces for Village residents

Located in the heart of the growing Dallas-Fort Worth region, the City of Irving is home to 239,798 residents and 8,500 local and international companies. Irving's Think Green...Be Green program offers residents and businesses the resources and opportunities to learn about sustainability and environmental topics. Irving Mayor Rick Stopfer is supportive of the National Wildlife Federation's Mayors' Monarch Pledge and is looking forward to creating a more pollinator-friendly community.

This past year we continued to plant milkweed as directed by Jeff Weiss in conjunction with the BG public works projects. I spoke to Rotary in Glenview, and held several zoom meetings with Sierra Club Woods & Wetlands group subcommittee called Milkweed for Monarchs Campaign. We have partnered with other Monarch groups locally, both in meetings and activities. Northwest Cook County Sierra Club and Ancient Oaks foundation are two of these groups we associate with, along with providing plants and material by Monarch Joint Venture bookmarks and brochures for handouts at events. Milkweed seed packets were supplied by me and handed out at Farmers Markets in various communities and the Green Fair in BG. Monarch butterfly/pollinator gardens were planted by us at 6 locations in the area supported by the Northwest Suburban Interfaith Council environmental social committee which I lead. Prairie restoration, including seed collection, cleaning and redistribution lead again by Jeff Weiss helped other areas be restored for pollinator and butterfly habitat. All together we can say 8-10 Action items were addressed in the NWF Monarch Pledge program.

Brady is a small city in Central Texas with a population of over 5,000, ideally located in the center of Texas portion of the Monarch Flyway where in the last days of September, monarchs from Canada and the Northeast are funneled south into Mexico. Brady is also home to a butterfly and hummingbird garden that contains native plants, shrubs, and milkweeds and is adjacent to a 3/4 mile walking trail along the beautiful Brady Creek. Brady Mayor, Anthony Groves, has committed to saving the monarch butterfly and other pollinators with his signing of the Mayor's Monarch Pledge and looks forward to engaging residents in building more pollinator habitats throughout the city.

Greenfield has been a Tree City, USA for over 25 years and in 2020 was designated as a Bee City, USA, a Monarch City, USA and a Bird City, WI. The City of Greenfield is committed to sustainable land management practices. Located about 30 miles north of downtown Houston, Texas, The Woodlands officially began in 1974. The Woodlands is a master-planned community with approximately 118,000 residents and approximately 2,100 businesses. The Woodlands is well known for its extensive parks and recreation, golf, corporate headquarters, schools, places of worship, shopping, dining, hospitality, healthcare and much more. Today, there are 151 parks and 220 miles of hike and bike trails. Recently designated a Monarch Champion by NWF, The Township strives to continue to be an example of the impact that communities can make to pollinator conservation.
