Approximately 7 miles from the Wisconsin border an easily accessible to both Milwaukee and Chicago, Johnsburg is highly sought out by those desiring a more rural lifestyle without sacrificing access to employment, shopping, dining and services. There is something for everyone in our village; from gorgeous views along Pistakee Lake, amazing village parks for recreational activities, to afternoons laughing with friends and family in the backyard, our village is right where you want to be. With around 6,400 residents in the village, you have the opportunity to make great friendships and be part of a growing community. Our village is expanding economically and recreationally, but we’ll never lose sight of our heritage, or give up our connection with nature or hometown values. Village President Edwin P. Hettermann and Trustee/Community Affairs Committee Chair Mike Fouke has committed to saving the monarch butterfly and other pollinators with their signing of the Mayors’ Monarch Pledge for the 3rd annual consecutive year and looks forward to engaging residents in building more pollinator habitat throughout the Village. Further improvements including the resolution for "No Mow May" which adds to an environment-friendly practice that is on the rise in a move to help emerging insects and early season pollinators.

The City of Westland has established a vision called "Mission Green" which focuses on educating residents the importance of environmental sustainability. Community volunteers play a crucial role in educating residents about the significance of monarch butterflies and pollinator conservation. Westland has established a butterfly garden at Corrado Park that is maintained by community volunteers known as the Birds, Butterflies and Bees Community Gardening Group. This group organizes educational programs and initiatives to raise awareness about the importance of pollinator conservation. This garden provides essential habitats and food sources for monarchs and other pollinators. Our commitments extend beyond ecological integrity and habitat zones. We also have commited values of knowledge-sharing via art, in which we have a public mural in our city featuring monarchs.

Columbus is Ohio’s capital and largest city with a population of 913,175 and covers 226 square miles. Columbus Recreation and Parks Department has over 400 parks and many pollinator habitats of varying sizes. Columbus is committed to saving the monarch butterfly and other pollinators by signing the Mayor’s Monarch Pledge. Columbus continues its resident engagement through the city in promoting pollinator habitats that benefit the monarch butterfly. Columbus Recreation and Parks Department, Franklin Park Conservatory, Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District, and Sustainable Columbus are spearheading Pollinator Conservation in Columbus along with the help of many local nonprofits.

New Trier Township’s mission is to provide leadership, advocacy, and resources to benefit the physical, mental, and social well-being of residents. Established in 1850, New Trier Township government serves more than 60,000 residents in the villages of Glencoe, Kenilworth, Wilmette, and Winnetka, plus portions of Glenview and Northfield east of Harms Road and Northfield Road. In February 2025, the Board of Trustees voted to adopt the Mayor's Monarch Pledge for the third year in recognition that one of the Township's earliest roles, addressing "noxious weeds," may have contributed to a misunderstanding of the importance of native plants to our pollinators and greater ecosystem.
