The Village of Ardsley is located in Westchester County, New York and has a population of ~5,000 residents. The Village is committed to and has already taken many actions to help the monarch butterfly including increasing public awareness of the issue, creating native gardens for pollinators, and encouraging residents to build gardens for monarchs. The Village has launched the Ardsley Pollinator Pathway Project to help save endangered pollinators and birds. The Village is aware of the importance of saving monarchs and other pollinators and believes that encouraging the expansion of native plantings will not only benefit monarchs but all native species, as well as providing natural and beautiful spaces for Village residents. Ardsley earned the Leadership Circle Achievement for the National Wildlife Federation's Mayors Monarch Pledge in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025. The Village is proud to support our beloved monarch butterflies.

The City of Verona is located in south-central Wisconsin, with a population of around 16,000. It is a fast-growing city that values its green spaces and provides habitat for wildlife of all sorts, including monarchs, other butterflies, and pollinators. Mayor Diaz has taken a special interest in sustainability and natural resource preservation. The Mayor’s Monarch Pledge is a natural outcome of his passion for the outdoors. Verona looks forward to completing several monarch-focused projects in the coming year.

It is the largest city in Hidalgo County of the Lower Rio Grande Valley, a region known for its high biodiversity and as an ecotourism destination. Mayor Javier Villalobos of McAllen, Texas has committed to conserving the monarch butterfly and the pollinator community that are so important to ecosystem and economic health. Mayor Villalobos looks forward to engaging residents and creating more pollinator habitat in the city.

The Town of North Hempstead is a suburban community located on Long Island, New York and has a population of over 200,000 residents. In 2018, the Town of North Hempstead first took the Mayors’ Monarch Pledge and have taken the pledge every year since. Through the pledge, the Town has committed to and already taken many actions to help the monarch butterfly including increasing public awareness of the issue, encouraging residents to build gardens for monarchs in their homes, and creating monarch habitat on Town owned land. Established in 1984, the City of Rochester Hills, in Southeast Michigan, has a population of roughly 75,000. Rochester Hills is committed to sustaining its position among the nation’s preeminent places to live, work and raise a family. The community continues to value its natural resources and green spaces. The City sees the importance of not only protecting and enhancing these resources; but acting as a leader and model to residents and the community. As part of this effort, the city is committed to taking actions to conserve and maintain pollinator habitats. Actions include supporting local native plants sales, seed collection programs, providing pollinator habitat support to HOA's, residents, local garden clubs and continued stewardship efforts in our City Parks and Green Spaces.

City of Chamblee

Chamblee is a vibrant urban city located just 14 miles from downtown Atlanta with a population of roughly 30,000 residents. The city is located within the Piedmont region of the state and is home to 10 parks and the Chamblee Rail Trail. Mayor Mock has committed to saving the monarch butterfly and other pollinators with his signing of the Mayors’ Monarch Pledge and looks forward to engaging residents in building more pollinator habitat throughout the city. Chamblee is proud to have achieved Monarch Champion status for 25 actions taken toward our Monarch Pledge in 2025!

The Woodlands Township, located 27 miles north of downtown Houston, Texas, is the local government for one of the country’s leading master-planned communities. This 28,000-acre residential and commercial development is home to more than 120,000 residents and more than 2,000 businesses. The Woodlands Township and citizens of The Woodlands have joined communities around the nation to recognize the importance of creating and preserving pollinator habitat. The Board of Directors for The Woodlands Township have committed to help save the monarch butterfly and other pollinators by signing the Mayors Monarch Pledge. To honor the pledge to support monarch butterflies, and all pollinators, The Woodlands Township is working with residents, businesses, churches and schools to raise awareness and create more pollinator habitat across our community.

Southwest Ranches is a semi-rural community in western Broward County with a population of under 8,000. Southwest Ranches is home to 150 acres of preserved park land, including 3 properties for which the County has bestowed Emerald awards for our stewardship of wildlife habitat. Southwest Ranches residents receive monthly information regarding the importance of conservation for pollinators, and have multiple public properties upon which best management practices are demonstrated. Additionally, southwest Ranches works closely with Broward County doing outreach regarding habitat creation and preservation.
