Grosse Pointe Park is located on the southwestern shore of Lake St. Clair, bordering Detroit, with a population of 11,027. We have committed to the Mayor's Monarch Pledge, earning Leadership Circle status in 2016 under Mayor Robert Denner, and in 2023-2025 under our current Mayor Michele Hodges. Grosse Pointe Park will continue these efforts toward being a more pollinator-friendly city by working in partnership with its sustainability committee, under the GPP Beautification Commission. Our goal is to become a Monarch Champion City while building a healthy, sustainable and wildlife friendly community.

Robbinsville Township is an up and coming diverse town of 16,000 with deep roots in agriculture. Robbinsville is located in Central New Jersey near Trenton and Princeton, and contains a rich history in farming and education that continues to this day. Besides the thousands of acres of preserved farmland, the township, under the direction of Mayor David Fried and Township Council, has provided a beautiful Butterfly Garden and natural meadows at the Miry Run Recreation Area, added many pollinator-attracting plants at its Recreation Office, Senior Center and throughout the township, and has partnered with the community to provide vital education and awareness about the importance of preserving and enhancing our environment. Robbinsville Township is committed to creating additional butterfly sanctuaries throughout the township that will effectively enhance the Monarch population and provide a safe environment for Monarchs and other key pollinators for years to come.

The City of Corinth is located in North Central Texas with a population of 24,904 and is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. The community is home to the Corinth Nature Preserve and Butterfly Garden, the Commons at Agora, and 13 additional public parks. Mayor Heidemann has demonstrated Corinth’s commitment to protecting monarch butterflies and other pollinators by signing the Mayors’ Monarch Pledge. Through this effort, the City looks forward to engaging residents through education, encouraging pollinator-friendly practices, and leading by example with sustainable city landscaping and ordinances.

Elm Grove is a village of just 3.29 square miles (6,524 in population) that was incorporated in 1955. The community was named America’s best suburb by Business Insider in 2014 and proudly became the first community in the state of Wisconsin to achieve the National Wildlife Federation’s Community Habitat designation on 1/27/23. The community takes pride in its Tree City USA, Bird City Wisconsin High Flyer, and Bee City USA designations. Our small community has 8 certified Monarch Waystations via the Monarch Watch, one of which is at our 79 acre village park, which was named in Rob Bignell’s book, Wisconsin’s Best Wildflower Hikes. Our community has been dedicated to increasing awareness about the plight of the monarch butterfly through ongoing community education and outreach programs including native plant sales, village displays, native plant gardens, book clubs, and monarch activist speakers. Elm Grove is proud to have added the Mayors’ Monarch Pledge Leadership Circle to its list of accomplishments and is looking forward their 2026 commitment to engage and educate.

Located at the heart of Cape Cod, the Town of Barnstable is home to nearly 50,000 year-round residents with a significant increase in population during the peak summer season. With coastline on both the northern and southern boundaries, the Town boasts expanse beaches with numerous freshwater lakes and ponds and a strong history of protecting open space which is esteemed for water supply, habitat protection as well as preserving the Town’s character and natural landscape. Through the Mayor’s Monarch Pledge, Town Manager, Mark S. Ells, has committed to collaborate with Town staff to educate and engage our community including but not limited to residents, developers, planners, landscape architects, and garden groups to plant native milkweed and nectar-producing plants in order to establish and expand habitat for the monarch butterfly and other pollinators here in Barnstable.

The City of Fort Atkinson is a vibrant community located along the Rock River, a few miles upstream from Lake Koshkonong, in Jefferson County. Fort Atkinson is the largest city located entirely in the county. The city developed at the former site of Fort Koshkonong, which was used during the 1832 Black Hawk War. Fort Atkinson’s name is derived from the original fort and General Henry Atkinson, who was in charge of the US forces during the war. Fort Atkinson has been committed to the Mayor's Monarch Pledge since 2022 and continues to work to make the community pollinator-friendly.

Champaign Illinois is a city of approximately 90,000 people in east central Illinois. Along with the neighboring city of Urbana, Champaign is the home of the University of Illinois campus. Mayor Deb Feinen signed a Proclamation in May of 2016 declaring the month of May as Monarch Conservation Month in Champaign, also signed on to the Mayor's Monarch Pledge. The goal of the proclamation was to raise awareness of the declining monarch butterfly population, which is the State Insect of Illinois. Staff was directed at that time to play a leadership role by creating habitat and educating the community about pollinators.
