Having incorporated in 2001 with the motto "Community and Nature in Harmony," our community continuously strives to maintain open space, preserve the unique rural character, and safeguard natural resources. The Village encourages community involvement in order to maintain and cultivate a balance of family, agriculture, business, environment, and cultural diversity for present and future generations.

The Village of Glen Ellyn is a welcoming community, with a rich natural history, a vibrant downtown, and engaging cultural and recreational opportunities. Our mission is to support a high quality of life, and a healthy environment is an essential component of this mission. This is accomplished through increased adoption of sustainable landscaping practices that support both people and pollinators. Over the last decade, the Village of Glen Ellyn and the Glen Ellyn Park District have set the example for supporting the Monarch butterfly and other pollinators on municipal and park district lands. By continuing to take significant and meaningful Mayor's Monarch Pledge actions, Glen Ellyn seeks to support the Monarch butterfly and to inspire residents and business owners to do the same.

Egg Harbor City is a small community of 4,300 residents. We are designated a "Pinelands Community" in the state of NJ. As such, we are committed to conservation of endangered species and maintaining a clean vibrant community where we can work and play! We are also active participants of Sustainablejersey and are currently working towards a Silver Certification and a Gold Star in Climate. Our "Green Team" would like to support the monarch and pollinators as part of our commitment to the environment.

Galveston is a Coastal City with a population of approximately 53,000. Being a Coastal City we are blessed with a diversification of flora and fauna. Mayor Brown of Galveston has committed to saving the Monarch Butterfly and other pollinators with the signing of the Mayors Monarch Pledge. The City of Galveston looks forward to supporting this goal with varied events that take place throughout the year and to continue to educate our residents and visitors to the positive impact the Monarch Butterfly has on our entire ecosystem.

Monarch butterflies are an important part of our desert ecosystem, and cities play a meaningful role in helping them thrive. By renewing Mesa’s participation in the Mayors’ Monarch Pledge, we are committing to expanding pollinator habitat, planting native milkweed, and encouraging action at homes, businesses, and schools across our community. The City of Mesa is a part of a large metropolitan area in Arizona that is located in the beautiful desert Southwest. Mesa is proud to partner with Southwest Monarch Study and other experts as we continue learning more about monarch migration across Arizona. It is an honor to join communities across the country in supporting the monarch butterfly. With a size of 138 square miles and a population of over 500,000 residents, it just makes sense that we can and should be mindful of ways to enhance habitat for these and other pollinators and to encourage our greater community to do the same.

The City of Mission is a first ring suburb in the Kansas City metro located in northeast Johnson County. Mission has a longstanding commitment to our parks and greenspaces and promotes sustainability wherever possible. Mission was excited to take the pledge for the first time in 2025 and is looking forward to continuing to expand native plantings in our public spaces, including the recent addition of 15 milkweed plants at Water Works Park last fall. Mayor Flora and the City are excited to continue these efforts and more by signing the Mayors' Monarch Pledge and doing what we can to help save the monarch butterfly.

The City of Riverside has a proud history of promoting healthy living spaces including native plants and fostering areas of growth for natural habitats for insects and wildlife. With a population of roughly 326,000, the city is home to the historic Mission Inn Hotel & Spa, the beautiful Santa Ana River and UCR Botanical Gardens. Mayor Lock Dawson of has committed to saving the monarch butterfly and other pollinators with their signing of the Mayors' Monarch Pledge and looks forward to engaging residents in building more pollinator habitat throughout the city. This year, we plan on issuing a proclamation to raise awareness, hosting or supporting a native seed sale or swap, displaying educational signage, and updating city landscaping ordinances where applicable to increase the usage of native plants.

Watertown is a city in the greater Boston area with a population of just over 35,000. Our community, though highly urbanized, boasts important natural resources, from protected open space along the Charles River to our growing number of pocket parks and community gardens. The City's administration, City staff, and many residents care deeply about the role in protecting and promoting pollinator species such as the monarch butterfly and continue to engage with residents, businesses, and neighborhood groups on the importance of providing pollinator habitat throughout the city.
