The City of Atlantic Beach's Environmental Stewardship Committee (ESC) in conjunction with a local non-profit art gallery hosted a 2022 Earth Day Event. The theme of earth day celebration was "Transformations" as a reference to the different transformations of the Monarch butterfly. Part of the event consisted of an art completion showing various art expressing environmental "transformations". As part of the event a booth was set up with educational information about Monarch butterflies. The booth had an exhibit with Monarch chrysalis stage butterflies. In addition to the booth and education, native milk weed seed were given out to participants.

Thanks to some volunteer master gardeners, the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Office and city staff, the City of Atlantic Beach now has a monarch waystation. The monarch waystation bed is beside Sherman Creek at City Hall/Jack Russell Park. It provides a highly visible and significant program to education and involve citizens.
