Pledge Summary

Easthampton, MA, is a small city of 16,000, nestled in Western MA's Pioneer Valley. The City Council is in the midst of creating ordinances to support the City's becoming a pollinator city. Additionally, my administration is doing a comprehensive Climate Action Plan to inform action steps the City and residents can take toward monarch and pollinator conversation as well as decarbonization actions.

Communications and Convening ▸

Issue a proclamation to raise awareness about the decline of the monarch butterfly and the species’ need for habitat. This proclamation must incorporate a focus on monarch conservation.

Program and Demonstration Gardens ▸

Plant or maintain a monarch and pollinator-friendly demonstration garden at City Hall or another prominent or culturally significant community location.

Systems Change ▸

Integrate monarch butterfly conservation into the city’s Park Master Plan, Sustainability Plan, Climate Resiliency Plan or other city plans.
