Pledge Summary

The City of Corinth is located in North Central Texas with a population of 24,904 and is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. The community is home to the Corinth Nature Preserve and Butterfly Garden, the Commons at Agora, and 13 additional public parks. Mayor Heidemann has demonstrated Corinth’s commitment to protecting monarch butterflies and other pollinators by signing the Mayors’ Monarch Pledge. Through this effort, the City looks forward to engaging residents through education, encouraging pollinator-friendly practices, and leading by example with sustainable city landscaping and ordinances.

Action Items Committed for 2026

Communications and Convening ▸

Engage with gardening leaders and partners (e.g., Master Naturalists, Master Gardeners, Nature Centers, Native Plant Society Chapters , other long-standing and influential community leaders) to support monarch butterfly conservation.

Program and Demonstration Gardens ▸

Plant or maintain a monarch and pollinator-friendly demonstration garden at City Hall or another prominent or culturally significant community location.
Host or support a monarch neighborhood challenge to engage neighborhoods and homeowners' associations within the community to increase awareness, support community unity around a common mission, and/or create habitat for the monarch butterfly.

Systems Change ▸

Increase the percentage of native plants, shrubs and trees that must be used in city landscaping ordinances and encourage use of milkweed, where appropriate.
Integrate monarch butterfly conservation into the city’s Park Master Plan, Sustainability Plan, Climate Resiliency Plan or other city plans.
Launch, expand, or continue one or more ordinances to reduce light pollution to benefit urban wildlife.
