Pledge Summary

East Bradford Township is in central Chester County, PA, adjacent to the county seat of West Chester. East Bradford was the first municipality in PA to opt to create a dedicated open space tax to preserve open space, and in partnership with local land trusts has permanently protected several thousand acres of open space in the heart of Chester County, amounting to some 40% of the Township land mass. East Bradford also has significant natural resource protection standards for woodlands, riparian buffers, steep slopes and floodplains which protect another 20% of the Township land mass from development.

Communications and Convening ▸

Launch or maintain a public communication effort to encourage residents to plant monarch gardens at their homes or in their neighborhoods. (If you have community members who speak a language other than English, we encourage you to also communicate in that language; Champion Pledges must communicate in that language.)
Issue a proclamation to raise awareness about the decline of the monarch butterfly and the species’ need for habitat. This proclamation must incorporate a focus on monarch conservation.

Program and Demonstration Gardens ▸

Launch, expand, or continue an invasive species removal program that will support the re-establishment of native habitat for monarch butterflies and other pollinators.
