City of Prospect Heights

Prospect Heights, IL

Matthew Dolick

Acting Mayor

Pledge Summary

The City of Prospect Heights is a Chicago suburb of approximately 15,900 population. Over the years, the City has provided financial resources, along with other private donors, to the Prospect Heights Natural Resources Commission to support their efforts in re-naturalizing the open areas of the City. Developing a pollinator park on City property through a generous grant from Commonwealth Edison and was one of the key aspects to the revitalization efforts. The planning of the park and volunteer labor resources were provided by the City's Natural Resources Commission and the natural wildflower plantings in the pollinator park offer a tailored habitat for monarch butterflies and other needed pollinators. The City and Natural Resources Commission is now building upon the success of the original pollinator park by further extending the park around the perimeter of Hillcrest Lake to promote the habitat of pollinators and to help stablize the shoreline of Hillcrest Lake.
