Township of Cherry Hill

Cherry Hill, NJ

Susan Shin Angulo

Mayor

Pledge Summary

Cherry Hill is a robust, diverse community of more than 75,000 people, making it the largest municipality in South Jersey. While the Township is a commercial and retail hub for the region, it is also home to hundreds of acres of open space, more than 40 recreation facilities, beautiful trails, forests, and the Cooper River, known as one of the best locations for crew regattas in the country. As part of Mayor Susan Shin Angulo’s dedication to preserving the Townships cherished natural resources, she is focused on maintaining and creating habitats that allow our crucial pollinators to not only survive, but thrive, in Cherry Hill. Supporting the Mayor’s Monarch Pledge is a key part of these efforts moving forward, and would not be possible without the hard work of the Cherry Hill Environmental Board and the Cherry Hill Green Team.

Action Items Committed for 2022

Communications and Convening

  • Launch or maintain a public communication effort to encourage residents to plant monarch gardens at their homes or in their neighborhoods. (If you have community members who speak a language other than English, we encourage you to also communicate in that language; Champion Pledges must communicate in that language.)

Program and Demonstration Gardens

  • Plant or maintain a monarch and pollinator-friendly demonstration garden at City Hall or another prominent or culturally significant community location.
  • Earn or maintain recognition for being a wildlife-friendly city by participating in other wildlife and habitat conservation efforts (i.e., National Wildlife Federation’s Community Wildlife Habitat program).
