Future home of the state-of-the-art Butterfly Pavilion Center for Invertebrate Research and Conservation, the City and County of Broomfield is proud to partner with the world-class research facility to host a global hub of invertebrate knowledge, conservation, inspiration, and connection. Stemming from the successful leading-edge habitat restoration partnership currently in place at some of Broomfield’s 8,000 acres of beloved open lands, Mayor Guyleen Castriotta is proud to sign the Mayors’ Monarch Pledge to continue educational efforts to support the vision to provide pollinator-friendly habitats and programming in parks, open spaces, corridors, and even rooftops spanning across Broomfield with a future first-of-its-kind “Pollinator District”.

Communications and Convening

  • Issue a proclamation to raise awareness about the decline of the monarch butterfly and the species’ need for habitat. This proclamation must incorporate a focus on monarch conservation.

Program and Demonstration Gardens

  • Host or support a native seed or plant sale, giveaway or swap.
  • Plant or maintain a monarch and pollinator-friendly demonstration garden at City Hall or another prominent or culturally significant community location.
  • Display educational signage at monarch gardens and pollinator habitat.
