City of Grapevine, TX is in the heart of the Dallas and Fort Worth Metroplex with a population of just over 57,000. Known as the Christmas Capital of Texas, Grapevine has renowned festivals and events. Residents and visitors enjoy over 1,600 acres of parkland, 23 trails, and more than 9 miles of shoreline along Grapevine Lake. Mayor William D. Tate is committed to reversing the decline of the monarch butterfly and other pollinators with the signing of the Mayor’s Monarch Pledge and continues to engage with the people of Grapevine in providing more habitat for these magnificent creatures.

Communications and Convening ▸

Issue a proclamation to raise awareness about the decline of the monarch butterfly and the species’ need for habitat. This proclamation must incorporate a focus on monarch conservation.

Program and Demonstration Gardens ▸

Host or support a native seed or plant sale, giveaway or swap.
Host or support a monarch butterfly festival that is accessible to all residents in the community and promotes monarch and pollinator conservation, as well as cultural awareness and recognition.
