We are Winthrop Harbor - a small town full of charm and character. With a population of 6700 on shores of Lake Michigan Winthrop Harbor is a throwback community, where time seems to slow down so you can enjoy every moment. A town with Ramsar wetlands, trails to explore, beaches to discover, and fishing stories to be lived out. No matter the season, there is always a memory to be made. Winthrop Harbor's planning is directed to becoming an eco-tourism destination.

Communications and Convening ▸

Engage with community garden groups and urge them to plant native milkweeds and nectar-producing plants.
Issue a proclamation to raise awareness about the decline of the monarch butterfly and the species’ need for habitat. This proclamation must incorporate a focus on monarch conservation.

Program and Demonstration Gardens ▸

Plant or maintain a monarch and pollinator-friendly demonstration garden at City Hall or another prominent or culturally significant community location.
