Pledge Summary

The Village of Mount Prospect is located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. Our town has a number of green spaces and is home to many substantial parks. The Village takes great pride in its green infrastructure and strives to utilize it to improve the quality of life for our residents. The Village is committed to improving and maintaining our existing habitat and working with community partners to do our part to further promote habitats for butterflies and pollinators.

Action Items Committed for 2021

Communications and Convening ▸

Issue a proclamation to raise awareness about the decline of the monarch butterfly and the species’ need for habitat. This proclamation must incorporate a focus on monarch conservation.

Program and Demonstration Gardens ▸

Plant or maintain a monarch and pollinator-friendly demonstration garden at City Hall or another prominent or culturally significant community location.
Plant milkweed and pollinator-friendly native nectar plants along roadsides, medians, or public rights-of-way.
