Pledge Summary

The City of La Crosse is a city far west on the Mississippi River in the Driftless Region surrounded by bluffs and hills. The population is roughly 50,000 and is home to over 40 parks. Mayor Reynolds of La Crosse, WI has committed to joining the effort by creating healthy habitats for these magnificent butterflies by signing the Mayors' Monarchs pledge and looks forward to further educating the community.

Communications and Convening ▸

Engage with city parks and recreation, public works, sustainability, and other relevant staff to identify opportunities to revise and maintain mowing programs and milkweed / native nectar plant planting programs.

Program and Demonstration Gardens ▸

Display educational signage at monarch gardens and pollinator habitat.
Launch, expand, or continue an invasive species removal program that will support the re-establishment of native habitat for monarch butterflies and other pollinators.
Plant or maintain a monarch and pollinator-friendly demonstration garden at City Hall or another prominent or culturally significant community location.
